I am an Assistant Professor of Marketing at the D'Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University and will serve as a fellow on the White House Social and Behavioral Sciences Team from October 2016-2017. I received a Ph.D. in marketing from the University of Florida in 2012, Ph.D. in psychology from Princeton University in 2009, and B.A. in psychology from Columbia University in 2004.
My research is at the interface of consumer behavior, social psychology, and judgment and decision making. I employ experimental research methods to examine when consumers call upon others to help them make decisions, identify the barriers to accurately gauging others’ preferences and effectively choosing on their behalf, and determine how these barriers can be overcome. My work has appeared in journals such as the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Medical Decision Making, and Health Psychology, and has been recognized as a recipient of the Marketing Science Institute Research Proposal Award on “Social Interactions and Social Media Marketing,” Transformative Consumer Research Grant, Georgetown Consumer Market Insights Challenge Award, and Society for Consumer Psychology Dissertation Proposal Award.
I have taught Consumer Behavior, Marketing Management, and Understanding European Business, and assisted in teaching Leadership, Judgment and Decision Making, Interpersonal Perception, Social Psychology, and Introduction to Psychology. I was named to the Dean’s List of Teaching Excellence each semester I taught at the Carl H. Lindner School of Business, and I was honored with the Graduate School and the Association of Princeton Graduate Alumni Teaching Award. Additionally, at the Carl H. Lindner School of Business, I created and lead the Research Assistantship Program in Marketing and the Choice And Thought (CAT) Lab, for which I was awarded the Harold J. Grilliot Award for Service to Undergraduate Organizations.
